All thrifted, I swear I buy almost everything second hand. It is the thrill of the hunt – good deals & fashion finds.

We’re famous! (At least with the early morning news crowd) — SJ Day 18

Here’s my account of being on the Ch. 10 news today:

Day 18

Stacie and I show off our looks for the day. Aren't we so cute?

This morning I woke up before the sun did. At 4:10 a.m. I took a shower, grabbed some breakfast and thanked the Lord I set my dress out the night before because I didn’t want to look like I got dressed in the dark!

I quietly put on my makeup by the glow of my lighted mirror and kept my eye on the clock the whole time. But, somewhere between getting dressed and fixing my hair I lost 10 precious minutes. So it was probably due to my vanity I showed up at the KWTX station at 5:54 a.m. and not 5:45 a.m. as they had requested.

I was ushered into the green room and I sat there in silence for about five minute before I turned the TV on to watch the show. I don’t know if you know this, but there are only about ten people at the TV station that early in the morning, so it was awfully quiet in the hallways of KWTX and most of the offices were dark.

After another 15 minutes Emily Iazzetti came back to get me for our segment and we met “officially” for the first time. We’ve been following one another on Twitter for about two years so it feels like we’ve met before. From there we went through a large soundproof door and into the flood lights of their studio. It’s kind of like being on stage without an audience which makes it much less intimidating that it seems.

Emily instantly put me at ease and we were chatting so easily that when the cameras came on for the live shot we just kept going. Everything after that is a blur. I don’t remember what I said or did, but I know it happened. When we finished she took the mic back from me and walked me out.

It wasn’t until I got in the car to head home that I realized I forgot to get a photo in the studio!

So, today I got a photo with the wonderful Stacie Buterbaugh who’s been doing dress-a-day on Facebook. She works in the TSTC Publishing office and now that they’ve moved back into the same building as my department (we had some flooding issues earlier this year) we can take each other’s photos in the mornings.

As for me, I went for another black and white (or in this case cream) number today. It’s a light cotton dress (super soft!) with a wide elastic waist band (who knew that would be a good thing?). I paired it with sandals to give my feet a break from heels.

Dress: Ross ($10.99)  Shoes: Walmart (bought last year)

Watch for us on the news tomorrow morning!

So, it looks like Dress a Day in May will be on KWTX Channel 10’s morning show tomorrow morning! The morning anchor, Emily Iazzetti, contacted me yesterday about the dress-a-day project and thinks it would be a fun story for the news. I agree! Maybe the dress-a-day fun will continue to spread across Central Texas!

So, tune in around 6 a.m. (if you’re awake) to catch the segment. Hopefully they will post it online too and we’ll get a link up.

Now for the hard part, picking out a dress for TV and getting up to the station by 5:45 a.m.

Going to bed early for beauty sleep,
